Learning in action

Exploring with engineering

Stop-motion

This week has ended our study of space.  As a culminating activity the students create a stop-motion animation to discus their knowledge.  check out their project on Twitter and Kidblog.
In math, we are continuing to work on measurement using customary and metric systems.
I am looking forward to another great week as we are preparing for Open House and the end of the nine weeks.

Please join our class on Thursday May 21, 2015 for the Engineering Expo.  Your child will be going throught the design process and creating a prototype.  Stay turned for pictures of examples along the way.  Also look for pictures posted to #christielearns on Twitter.

STAAR Week is over

Please hug your child tonight and let him/her know how proud you are of them.  This has been a very stressful week for them.
I am very proud of each one of them.
We are in the home stretch.  Over the next few weeks we will be preparing for our Engineering Fair that will be on May 21, 2015.  Your child will be working through the enigeering process to prove that if you can dream it, you can create it.
I look foward to sharing with you some of the amazing creations that will come from the fair.

Spring Fever

I hope that you and your family are having a great week.  Your students have been working hard as we review key concepts that we have learned in Math and Science.  In a few weeks your child will be taking the Math and Science STAAR test.  I know that each one will show what they have learned this year and do well.
Please talk to your child about the importance of staying focused and finishing strong.  This is a very exciting time of year for Fifth Graders.  Most are looking forward to middle school and saying good-bye to elementary school.  While we have many exciting events and activities planned, we still have about two more months of school left and we are not finished yet.
Than you for your continued support,
Mrs. Jones
